Things to Do

  1. Choose to stay at Booderee - it’s pretty cool to spot the kangaroos grazing on the front lawn early morning or late in the evening.

  2. Go for spectacular sunset beach walks on powdery white sands of unspoilt Callala Beach, it’s just heavenly. After all, Callala Beach is the longest and one of the best beaches in Jervis Bay!

  3. Sport rock climbing is for the adventure lovers with locations at Thompsons Point Nowra (see Magdalena in action!) or Point Perpendicular's 50m limestone cliffs.

  4. Family fun day is a must by the spectacular Shoalhaven River or Shoalhaven Zoo and Trees Adventure in North Nowra, well worth exploring.

  5. You can’t not go marlin fishing at The Tubes or squid fishing at Callala Bay or Honeymoon Bay.

  6. Artists and creatives will love the Bundanon Trust guided tour of the Bundanon Homestead and Arthur Boyd's Art Studio located amongst picturesque scenery. The Shoalhaven Regional Gallery in Nowra is worth a visit, also Jervis Bay Maritime Museum & Gallery is great for the whole family and nearby is a lovely scenic walk called the Mangrove Walk.

  1. Sip tea & devour home-made scones with jam and cream at Cambewarra Mountain Lookout, for spectacular views of the Shoalhaven Region just 20 mins by car from Nowra.

  2. Experience Bowen Island's eco and wildlife tours - fairy penguins have a massive colony on the island with around 10,000 penguins.

  3. Indulge in farm to table dining from a choice of great Shoalhaven restaurants such as Wharf Rd Restaurant & Bar in Nowra, The Butterfactory Restaurant in nearby Pyree, Cupitt’s Restaurant in Milton or Rick Stein at Bannisters Restaurant in Mollymook. Our local favourite however is Sydney Pizza Guru Pizza by Pietro - Wood Fired Pizza Food Truck - yum! And that Italian hand-made pasta, delizioso! Or alternatively, create your own MasterChef meal & surprise the fam!

  4. Drive to Greenwell Point 15 minutes away and shuck some Jim Wild Oysters.

  5. Explore the growing South Coast wine trail with it's 16 cellar doors, recognised with over 1000 Australian and International Wine Awards. Our favourite wine right now, amongst us ladies, is Silos Estate Wileys Creek Sparkling Shiraz :)

Just For Fun

  1. Go for bushwalks through Jervis Bay National Park or visit the botanic gardens or Hole in the Wall at Booderee National Park.

  2. Visit Nowra Seafood and Meat Market for all your fresh food produce.

  3. Take a Jervis Bay dolphin cruise or go whale watching from May to November, it's so thrilling when the baby humpback calves arrive!

  4. Go bike-riding along the flat pathway from Callala to Myola where you can then board the groovy Husky Ferry to Huskisson and enjoy Captain Dave's music radio hits! Check ferry open times however in low season.

  5. Valhalla Horse riding offers trail rides through local bushland.

  6. FlipOut in South Nowra is perfect for rainy days, little kids love it!

  7. Hike to the summit of Pidgeon House Mountain on the Budawang Range situated in Morton National Park. The return hike takes 2-3hrs and is 5.6km. The mountain was named by Captain Cook as he sailed past in 1770.

  8. Get your fit on and participate in the Callala Beach Marathon held each December or simply have a round of golf at the Callala 18-hole golf course. The courtesy bus is happy to do pickups and drop-offs!
